Rare Ideas Turns Dining Into Discovery With the Izipizi Street Brand Experience

Rare Ideas was briefed to create a Pan-Asian restaurant brand. What they built instead was a contemporary Southeast Asian street, and the decision to reframe the brief entirely is where Izipizi Street’s brand logic begins. The founders had traveled extensively across Southeast Asia. What stayed with them was not a particular cuisine or a specific city. It was the energy of food, retail, and ordinary life operating within a single shared environment. Capturing that required a fundamentally different kind of brand thinking.

A defining element of the project is its carefully structured brand architecture. Rare Ideas created an ecosystem of 11 individual food and beverage concepts, each developed with its own distinct identity, name, and graphic personality, while remaining connected through a broader visual and strategic framework. This balance allows every concept to stand out independently while contributing to a cohesive overall destination. Typography plays a central role in holding the system together, chosen not concept by concept, but with the full spatial environment in mind, considering neighbouring signboards, physical scale, and the distances guests move through as they explore the street.

Rare Ideas led the project across brand strategy, naming, environmental graphics, packaging, signage, merchandise, and communication systems, but what separates Izipizi Street from most hospitality projects is how that work was done. The brand was developed alongside the physical space, not applied to it afterward. Architecture and interiors ran as a parallel process to graphic and spatial design from the start, which meant signage could be conceived as architectural elements, and graphic moments could be planned into spatial sequences. The environmental identity and the built identity were developed as one thing. What held every decision in check was a discipline that is harder than it sounds: letting the concept lead rather than letting craft considerations override it.

The system was also built with longevity in mind. New concepts, collaborations, and seasonal additions can be introduced without disrupting the overall character of the street, because that kind of evolution is precisely how real streets grow. This matters because the guests Izipizi Street is designed for are increasingly skeptical of experiences that feel over-designed. They want texture, personality, and the sense that a place has its own history and logic. A brand system that can absorb change and still feel like itself is the only kind that holds up against that expectation.

Led by founder and Creative Director Vijeta Singh, Rare Ideas continues to develop brand systems that bridge business strategy with memorable customer experiences. With Izipizi Street, the studio makes a case that is increasingly relevant in hospitality: that the most durable brands are the ones that have something new to show you every time you return. Izipizi Street was built to work exactly that way.
