In the heart of Shinjuku, behind the gates of a former tea house, lies Lambert—a serene intersection of the old and the new. Conceived as a café, gallery, and garden, Lambert exists in the delicate threshold between tradition and the contemporary. Grounded in the ritual of tea yet presented through a modern lens, it embodies both the precision of heritage and the curiosity of progress. Its garden offers stillness amid the restless rhythm of the city, creating a quiet refuge that reflects its core duality: calm and movement, ritual and reinvention.
This tension between past and present is beautifully expressed through SODAA’s visual identity for the project. The brand system is anchored by typography—a language of balance and grace that mirrors the structure of a tea ceremony: sequence, precision, and poise. At its center stands Quadrant Text Mono by Vincent Chan, a typeface chosen for its refined geometry and contemporary dignity.

Supporting this disciplined typographic framework is a reimagined hanko, the traditional Japanese stamp of personal identity. In Lambert’s case, it transforms into an LB monogram shaped from rocks—an emblem of craftsmanship rooted in place. The mark speaks of tradition without nostalgia, evoking timelessness through material simplicity.
For SODAA, Lambert is more than a brand—it’s a conversation. The studio’s approach is marked by intuitive gestures and refined restraint. Early ideas often begin as casual sketches, evolving through attentive revision into coherent systems. Since its founding in 2018, Studio of Design and Art (SODAA) has cultivated a practice that blends cultural sensitivity with design clarity. Each project—whether cultural or commercial—is treated with equal care, guided by patience, dialogue, and curiosity.

SODAA’s work resists formula. Instead, it embraces a process of testing, rearranging, and re-seeing. The result is an identity that feels both deliberate and alive—like the quiet choreography of a tea ritual or the soft rustle of leaves in Lambert’s garden.
