In the evolving landscape of cultural transformation in Italy, the project “Cambio Passo – Transforming to Transform” stands as a bold statement of identity and vision. Designed by the creative studio hellobarrio, this editorial project is the official social impact report of Hangar Piemonte for the 2022–2024 period — but it is much more than a conventional institutional document.
Hangar Piemonte, a public agency devoted to cultural innovation in the Piedmont region, embarked in April 2022 on a deep process of rethinking its role and strategic direction. Since its founding in 2014, the agency has worked to design, experiment with, and implement cultural policies that serve as catalysts for territorial transformation. Over the past three years, Hangar has reached a moment of maturation — establishing itself as a reference point within the regional and national cultural ecosystem. “Cambio Passo” — literally “Shift Gears” — signals this turning point: a confident acceleration toward the future.
hellobarrio translated this momentum into a striking editorial artifact that mirrors the dynamic and transformative spirit of the agency. The design draws inspiration from the boldness of contemporary cultural magazines, breaking away from traditional visual codes. A vivid and highly saturated color palette meets unconventional typography to generate a rhythm and energy that permeate every page. The editorial choices challenge expectations, embracing experimentation to mirror the forward-thinking ethos of Hangar itself.
A key element of the project is the collaboration with Spanish artist Beto Val, whose dreamlike and surreal imagery adds depth to the publication. His artworks, featured prominently from the cover onward, serve not only as visual enrichment but as a narrative layer that tells the story of Hangar through metaphors and emotion. His signature style injects a sense of wonder and imagination, amplifying the report’s role as a visionary manifesto rather than a mere bureaucratic report.
Cambio Passo encapsulates Hangar’s belief in transformation through beauty, art, and culture — and hellobarrio has successfully turned this belief into visual form. The result is a governance document that reads and feels like a cultural object, pushing boundaries and reaffirming the power of design as a strategic tool.
Founded in Alba in 2017, hellobarrio is a studio that operates at the intersection of cultural insight and bold aesthetics. From the heart of the Langhe region to projects across the globe, their work ranges from brand identity to editorial, digital, and packaging design.
