Alpha-Bite is an illustrated alphabet inspired by the shapes, movement, and personality of snakes. Created by Creative Director, Brand Designer, and illustrator Victoria Rojo, the project transforms coils, scales, patterns, and silhouettes from different snake species into expressive typographic forms. Each letter is hand-drawn, positioned between illustration and lettering, where organic gestures evolve into recognisable characters. The result is a functional A–Z system that feels alive, playful, and intentionally wild.

Part of Rojo’s ongoing collection of custom fonts, Alpha-Bite marks a clear shift from her previous typeface, People Pleaser, which explored softness, warmth, and emotional expression. With this new alphabet, she deliberately stepped into a wilder and more unexpected universe, deeply rooted in the natural world. Snakes became the perfect subject: their bodies naturally suggest letterforms, their patterns create rhythm, and their movements carry a quiet sense of storytelling.

As a lifelong fauna enthusiast, Rojo approached the project as both a design experiment and a study of snakes — observing their curves, textures, symbolism, and the structural intelligence within their anatomy. Each letter becomes a small portrait that celebrates the elegance and strangeness of these often misunderstood creatures. Alpha-Bite balances clarity with chaos, structure with instinct, reflecting Rojo’s broader design philosophy: strong systems should never come at the cost of personality.
Bold, whimsical, and crafted with genuine love for nature, Alpha-Bite invites curiosity and brings a touch of wild character into the world of custom type. The font is available for personal use and can be downloaded on Behance.
