In a striking fusion of culture, craft, and storytelling, Allies Creative Studio has unveiled the brand identity for San Patricios, a new Irish–Mexican bar that opened its doors in Jersey City this September. The project marks the latest chapter in the studio’s ongoing creative partnership with The Dead Rabbit, the award-winning New York hospitality group renowned for redefining modern Irish bar culture in America.
For Allies, this wasn’t just another brief to design a bar identity — it was an invitation to build a world. A world where two rich heritages intertwine, where rebellion meets warmth, and where shared spirit transcends borders.

The name San Patricios draws inspiration from the historic battalion of Irish soldiers who fought alongside Mexico in the 1800s. Rather than treating this as a political symbol, Allies embraced it as a creative emblem of loyalty, defiance, and cultural connection — themes that pulse through every element of the brand.
The visual language of San Patricios refuses perfection. The typography shifts, stretches, swells, and snaps — raw, expressive, and full of life. Each letter carries its own rhythm, echoing the individuality of the people who gather at the bar: some for celebration, some for comfort, all for connection. The logo, a handcrafted mix of styles, bridges the two cultures without being trapped in nostalgia. It’s imperfect by design — real, human, and emotional. As Allies puts it, “The identity doesn’t follow rules, it follows feelings.”

At the heart of the system lies illustration by Florian Schommer, whose work adds a storybook quality that captures folklore, emotion, and identity without slipping into cliché. It invites viewers to step into a world that feels both mythic and grounded, personal and universal.
What sets this project apart is its real-world execution. Every brand element — from signage to interior design — lives and breathes within the space itself. Authentic photography and physical touchpoints replace digital mockups, reinforcing Allies’ belief that true creativity thrives in context, not just on screens.

Allies Creative Studio describes itself simply as “a very creative studio.” But beneath that understatement lies a fearless philosophy. The team believes in thinking, creating, and building brands that challenge convention. They’re not afraid to whisper when others shout — or to shout when others whisper. “Playing it safe stifles growth,” they declare. “Overthinking extinguishes the fire. But creativity blows stuff up.”
