Fratelli Mozza: A Stretchable Visual Identity by DONE.
What if the physical properties of a product could become the foundation of an entire brand identity? For Fratelli Mozza, creative studio DONE. explored this idea by transforming the distinctive behaviour of mozzarella into a playful and adaptable visual language.
Developed for a pizzeria seeking a contemporary, approachable identity with a strong personality, the project takes inspiration from the brand’s name and its connection to the idea of brotherhood. With “Fratelli” referring to two brothers, DONE. found an unexpected way to visually represent their relationship through the very ingredient at the heart of the business: mozzarella.

The concept builds on the natural characteristics of melted cheese, which stretches, compresses, separates and connects. Rather than treating these qualities as decorative elements, DONE. translated them into the underlying principles of the identity system, creating a visual language that behaves much like the product itself.
At the centre of the identity is a distinctive typographic solution built around the two Zs in MOZZA. Their circular inner shapes symbolise the two brothers, connected by an elastic, cheese-inspired form. This simple yet expressive idea becomes the starting point for a flexible graphic system in which shapes stretch, contract and transform to accommodate different formats and applications.

The result is a dynamic identity that balances recognisability with versatility, bringing movement and personality to every brand touchpoint. Its playful character reflects the informal and social nature of pizza culture while establishing a distinctive visual presence in a competitive market.
With Fratelli Mozza, DONE. demonstrates how a familiar everyday ingredient can inspire an entire design system. By turning the physical behaviour of mozzarella into a coherent visual concept, the studio has created a brand identity that feels both intuitive and memorable, proving that sometimes the strongest creative ideas come directly from the product itself.
